MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) is a technology which is used in wastewater treatment process and nowadays it is in great demand. This technology is used in STP (Sewage Treatment Plants). STPs which are used by many Industries for their wastewater treatment and also it is used by many societies for their wastewater treatment. MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) was first invented by Prof. Hallvard Ødegaard in the late 1980s. The MBBR system consists of aeration tank with special plastic carriers where biofilm can grow. Biofilms, used in wastewater treatment . Biofilms are types of microorganisms that can grow on different surfaces. The plastic carriers are made up of a material with a density close to the density of water. These carriers are mixed in the tank and thus have a good contact between the substance in the flowing wastewater and biomass on the carriers.
